Public-Private Partnerships, Huh?

"Listen to the National Development Council Public-Private Partnership team speak for a while and you quickly realize they have an amazing amount of industry experience and knowledge; they also deal with very complex projects and concepts.  You also quickly recognize the challenge in communicating this depth of information in a web site, to a greatly diversified audience, government employees, and public university staff and bond attorneys all with varying levels of understanding of Public-Private Partnerships.

Getting to know this organization and its’ people came easy. Our contact was forthcoming with the answers to the questions we asked. That is always the key to the success of any of our projects. Web, print, whatever it is you are executing, you need to get honest answers in order to establish realistic expectations and goals. Also most projects have an impact on the larger organizational efforts—so giving us all of the information and letting us pull what is relevant is also important in reaching long-term project success. This allowed us to make the right recommendations regarding format, use of animations to engage the visitors, and sorting functions to allow visitors to view content that is most relevant to them.

So far, their new web site is opening to great reviews. "

UP’s Coasters Take Top Prize

This past holiday season, as a promotion for our clients, we designed a set of coasters that featured drink recipes for the holiday festivities. We followed up after New Year’s with an email featuring hangover recipes.

The response was great from our clients, and this past Friday, May 20th, the sentiments were shared by the Art Directors Club of NJ.

Pictured below is designer Dave Yurkanin with the award, and some shots of the coasters.

Emergent Order

Over the past few weeks, UP Design has been engaged in a branding project with Emergent Order, a new production company from a few of the industry’s finest, who gained attention with this. Below is a little behind the scenes of the UP process, and a little tease of the final outcome.

We started out exploring multiple mediums, from paint to pixels. Some of our favorites still exist within this first round, which we had a lot of fun with.

Off the Floor Friday: Infographics

Every once and a while, as designers, our heart gets a little broken. We fall in love with something we’ve created, but the client doesn’t share the same feelings. This is something comes with the design territory, but why should we let these great pieces go to waste?

Every Friday, we’ll be sharing an example of one such work… and this week is no exception.
